The airline was established on 12 December 2003 and started operations in 2003. It is owned by Air China (51%), Citic Pacific (25%) and Beijing Capital International (24%) and has 1,746 employees (at January 2005). The Air China Cargo fleet consists of the following aircraft (at January 2005):
On 29 July 2004, Boeing confirmed an order by Air China Cargo for two Boeing 747|Boeing 747-400 Freighters, valued at approximately $400 million at list prices. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in November 2005, followed by the second delivery in March 2006. The two freighters will be used on Air China Cargo's routes between China and North America.
