A convention and exhibition facility, the AsiaWorld-Expo, on the northeastern corner of the island of Chek Lap Kok will be opened in 2005. On January 17 2005 the AA acquired 35% stake of Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (Jiantizi|s 杭州萧山国际机场, Traditional Chinese|t 杭州蕭山國際機場), with Hong Kong Dollar|HK$ 1.99 billion, defeating Singapore Changi Airport, Copenhagen Airport, Houston International Airport and BAA plc. A new holding company of Xiaoshan Airport will be formed and be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
