Baoding (zh-cp|c=保定|p=Bǎod?ng) is a prefecture-level city in Hebei province, China Baoding is a city with a history dating back to the Western Han Dynasty. It was the capital of Hebei until 1958 until the role was assumed by Shijiazhuang. Baoding is nearly halfway between Beijing and Shijiazhuang on the Jingshi Expressway which connects the two cities, and is the western terminus of the Baojin Expressway linking Baoding with Tianjin. Hebei province, in which Baoding is located, is home a high propotion of Catholicism in China|Chinese Catholics; Baoding likewise reflects this demographic trend.
