Buddha's Delight is a vegetarian dish well known in Chinese cuisine. As suggested by
the name, it is a dish traditionally enjoyed by Buddhist monks who are vegetarians. It's name in Cantonese (linguistics)|Cantonese
is Jie - rhymes with pie.

Various vegetables are cooked in soy sauce-based liquid until tender.

Common ingredients in this dish include: bok choy|nappa cabbage, bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, dried or fried tofu, lotus root, bamboo shoots, Tree ear fungus|tree ear fungus, gingko nuts. It is a dish often served for Chinese New Year, when Fat Choy (vegetable)|fat choy (black moss) is often included in the dish.
