C-pop

C-pop is an abbreviation for Chinese pop. The term refers to China|Chinese popular music. Most Chinese pop comes from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Consequently, the lyrics of some Chinese pop is in Cantonese (linguistics)|Cantonese or Taiwanese language|Taiwanese, although most Chinese pop is in Mandarin Chinese because of the larger audience to which it reaches (see also Mandopop).

Chinese pop covers many styles such as Rhythm and blues|rhythm and blues, slow jams, ballads, Hip hop music|hip hop, and rock music|rock.

C-pop should not be confused with Cantopop, which is the Cantonese subset of Chinese pop.
