The Canadian Party of Labour was a Maoism|Maoist political party in Canada. The CLP was not an electoral party, as such, but a revolutionary party attempting to assemble a vanguard of workers who could lead a Communist revolution. The group was in existence from the late 1960s to the early 1990s and was most active in British Columbia and Ontario where a number of its members achieved office in the United Steel Workers of America though they did so without being open about their political affiliation.
The CPL was criticized by other groups with allegations that they were undemocratic, not allowing internal debate and being highly secretive about its structure and decision making.http://www.socialisthistory.ca/Docs/RMG-GMR/Founding_of_RMG.htm.
