Chep Lap Kok

Wikipedia

Chek Lap Kok (赤鱲角; pinyin: Ch?li? Jiǎo; lit. "Red Perch Cape") is an island in the western waters of Hong Kong. Chek Lap Kok was one of the two islands (the other being Lam Chau) disappeared into to the 12.48 km² platform mainly land reclamation|reclaimed from the sea for the current Hong Kong International Airport. The airport is therefore popularly referred to as Chek Lap Kok Airport. The original farming and fishing villages on the island were relocated to 赤鱲角村 (literally Chek Lap Kok Village) on Lantau.

Chek Lap Kok island is located north of Lantau Island off Ma Wan Chung and got its name from the fact that the red perch (赤鱲 fish with whiskers) was once abundant in its vicinity.
