Chongming County (崇明县, pinyin: Ch?ngm?ng Xi?n) is the only county of China|county under the jurisdication of Shanghai, China. The county is located on Chongming Island (崇明岛, pinyin: Ch?ngm?ng Dǎo), the second largest island of mainland China, after Hainan. It was the most urban area of Shanghai at one time, but now with the construction the trans-Yangtze tunnel, many people are rushing to the island to look for gold. It is also a major relocation centre for migrants from Three Gorges Dam area. Chongming has an area of 1041.38 km² and population of 694 600 as of 2001.
Chong Ming National Forest Park is also located there.
