sectstub Gimson was the Chief Secretary for Administration|Colonial Secretary of Hong Kong from December 8th|8 December, 1941 to December 25th|25 December, 1941. He was arrested by the Japanese Occupying Forces in Hong Kong after the British forces surrendered on what is know known as Black Christmas. During the period of the Japanese Occupation, he was imprisoned by the Japanese Milltary at the Stanley Prison until August 15th|15 August, 1945, when Hong Kong was liberated. After the occupation of the Japanese, he was the Head of the Hong Kong Provisional Government from until September of that year, when he handed the government over to Real Admiral Sir Cecil H.J. Harcourt|Cecil Harcourt, who became the head of a military government until Young's return.
