Ma Jian (馬健, Pinyin: Mǎ Ji?n) was a basketball player from the People's Republic of China best known for playing college basketball for the University of Utah from 1993–1995, and becoming one of the first Chinese nationals to play competitive basketball in the United States. He was on the preseason roster of the Los Angeles Clippers in 1995 before being the last player cut. He later returned to China to play for the Beijing Olympians of the Chinese Basketball Association, until he left during the 2000–2001 season. Ma was considered a pioneer who cleared the way for other players from China to enter the National Basketball Association|NBA, such as Wang Zhizhi, Yao Ming and Mengke Bateer.
