Due to pressure from the People's Republic of China over the political status of Taiwan, this song is played in place of the National Anthem of the Republic of China |ROC national anthem at international events such as the Olympic Games where the ROC team also plays as "Chinese Taipei." Nonetheless, this song is in a way less controversial than the national anthem, in part because it is less partisan in nature (since the national anthem was also first the Kuomintang|KMT party song). The lyrics were written in Classical Chinese by Tai Ch'uan-hsien (戴傳賢, D??i Chu??nxi??n). The music was composed by Huang Tzu (黃自, Hu??ng Z??).
