Sangokushi, the native transliteration of a term, Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms is a Japanese computer and video game, a series of turn-based Wargame#Computerized wargaming|computerized wargames by Koei. Ten editions in the series have been published in Japan and Chinese language|Chinese-speaking places in East Asia. The game is based on the events of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the Sanguo Zhi|Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms in China during the 2nd century|2nd and 3rd century|3rd centuries. Ten Japanese editions of Sangokushi have been released, of which nine English versions are available as Romance of Three Kingdoms (ROTK) . Only editions VII, VIII and X were compounded with role-playing game|RPG aspects whereas the player can only control the ruler in other editions. There are also several spinoffs based on this series, including Dynasty Warriors.
