The Shek Kong Airfield (????????????) (22??26'12"N, 114??04'49"E, ICAO:VHSK) is the airbase of People's Liberation Army Air Force in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is located in Shek Kong, near Pat Heung and Kam Tin. Before the handover (history)|transfer of sovereignty in 1997, it was used by the British Forces Overseas Hong Kong|British Forces (RAF Sek Kong); nowadays, used as a airbase for People's Liberation Army (PLA) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), however, public still can use it to learn aeroplane driving and private aeroplane in selected time periods. It started to build in 1938, and late completed in 1950 due to Japanese occupation in World War Two, it is the first Hong Kong airport with paved runway.
