The Silvery River of Heaven is the great swath of white/silver nebula|nebulosity that is the plane of the disc of the Milky Way. The name Silvery River comes from China, and is used through East Asia, such as Korea and Japan. In the west, it is called the Milky Way (not Galaxy, rather, the nebulosity in the sky). The nebulosity is greatest in the IAU constellation of Sagittarius, which is where the galactic core is. Akashaganga is the Indian name for the milky way galaxy, which means Ganga (river) of the Sky.
