Sir Solomon Hochoy Order of St Michael and St George|KCMG, Royal Victorian Order|GCVO, Order of the British Empire|OBE, Trinity Cross|TC, (b. April 20, 1905 in Jamaica, d. November 15, 1983) was the last United Kingdom|British Governor of Trinidad and Tobago and the first Governor General after independence. He migrated to Trinidad at the age of 2, and grew up in Blanchisseuse. After rising through the civil service, Hochoy was appointed Governor in 1960 (the first West Indian to be Governor). When Trinidad and Tobago became independent in 1962 Hochoy was appointed Governor General.
