Suisei (mythology) Wikipedia

Suisei (水星) is the name for the planet Mercury (planet)|Mercury in Japanese (language)|Japanese (kanji). The name originates with the kanji, from the original Chinese written language|Chinese, which use the same characters. The name (in Chinese characters) is also used in other East Asian communities.

水星 literally means water star, the traditional planets|five planets each representing an element in the Chinese system of geomancy.

Trivia

• In Sailor Moon, Ami Mizuno|Sailor Mercury has power over water and the cold, this derives from the element associated with the planet in Chinese geomancy, 水 water, which is also associated with cold.
