Suona

Wikipedia

The suona (嗩吶, also called the laba 喇叭 or haidi) is a Han Chinese shawm, developed from the central Asian surnay. It was introduced into China roughly during the Ming dynasty. It is similar to a European oboe, but uses a copper mouthpiece and possesses a metal bell at its end. The suona creates a distinct high-pitched sound, and is used frequently in Chinese traditional music ensembles.
