Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival

The Toronto International Dragon Boat races take place every June at Toronto's Centre Islands. Established in 1988, it is the largest dragon boat event outside of Asia.

Boats


Dragon boats are traditionally made of wood, but they are now made of fibreglass and carbon resin.

  • Length: 12.5 metres

  • Depth: 0.7 metres

  • Width: 1.2 metres

  • Oars: Steering 4.1-4.6 metres, paddles 1-1.3 metres

  • Number of Rowers: 20 with one 1 drummer at the rear and 1 steerer
