Shu Qi (舒淇, pinyin: Shū Q?, Wade-Giles: Shu Ch'i) (born April 16, 1976) is the stage name of a Taiwanese actor|actress born Lin Lihui (林立慧). Her stage name is occasionally (although incorrectly) romanized as Hsu Chi, Hsu Qi, etc.

Shu Qi began as a model for adult magazines and other Pornography|erotic photography. It did not take long for her to be starred in various Asian soft porn films before eventually switching to mainstream films.

Shu Qi is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. Because her name is transliterated in so many ways, it is hard to get a firm estimate of the number of fan Web sites devoted to her, though a Google search for just one of her name variants (Hsu Chi) returns 183,000 fan pages, mostly filled with photographs of her. A good example of the kind of reaction she provokes: when she first appeared on screen in the film "Viva Erotica" (which, despite its title, is an R-rated comedy, not a porn film), audiences (the majority of whom had never seen her before) were reported to have let out collective gasps of astonishment, often followed by a stunned silence.

Despite having perhaps the most appealing face on the planet, she has never learned English nor any other language aside from her native Chinese, and because of this has rarely appeared in any American or international films, and is thus not as well known in the United States as one might otherwise expect.
