Dao Lang

Wikipedia

Dao Lang (刀郎) is the pseudonym of Luo Lin, a Han Chinese singer from Sichuan (China), although many people believe that he was born and raised in Urumqi (Xinjiang). His CD 2002年的第一場雪 made him famous. He sang with Alan Tam on the debut 說不出的告別.

Critics say he is a typical example of Han Chinese stereotyping Uyghurs and other minorities of northwestern China. Some of his quotes are very reveiling in this direction: "I traveled to the Gobi Desert to meet Uygur people and study their music." In fact, the Uyghurs live around the Taklamakan Desert, there are very few Uyghurs in the Gobi Desert.
